Rio Ferdinand will miss England’s World Cup qualifier against Andorra tonight – possibly paving the way for a place in the starting line-up for Joleon Lescott.
Fabio Capello confirmed that the Manchester United defender will be unavailable for the clash due to a neck injury.
And now the England boss has a choice of bringing in one of either Wes Brown, Matthew Upson or Lescott to play alongside John Terry.
Ferdinand is expected to be fit in time for Wednesday’s trip to Croatia, but tonight could be the perfect opportunity for Lescott to cement his place in the England set-up after he was left out the squad that faced Czech Republic last month.
The match against Andorra is taking place in Barcelona and is Capello's first competitive match since taking over from Steve McClaren.

Hopefully this will help Joleon regain his form after his woeful start to the season. You would have to say that Jags would probably get the nod ahead of him if he was a few inches taller. Having said that, best of luck Joleon, hope you play a stormer.
Agree with Michael?
