Young Blues Run Riot

by Craig Davies | Saturday 6 September 2008, 14:33

Everton Under-18s have secured another high scoring win after coming away 6-0 winners against Derby County.

The result means that the young Blues have scored a substantial 10 goals in just two games - and to add to that, have kept clean sheets in both games after beating Milton Keynes 4-0 last week.

Three goals either side of half-time gave Everton the convincing victory, however at times the clash was a lot closer than the score-line would suggest.

After 20 minutes of tightly contested football, it was Lee Mcardle who opened the scoring when he headed home from a Tom McCready corner kick.

The opening goal appeared to instill confidence into Neil Dewsnip's side and goals from Lewis Codling and Hope Akpan meant that victory was sewn up by half-time.

The story of the second half was very similar to that of the first. Derby re-grouped at half-time and once again for 20 minutes made a game of it, however when Georg Krenn hit home a Daniel Redmond cross, the floodgates opened and goals from Karl Sheppard and Conor McAleny completed a six goal rout.

Coach Neil Dewsnip was thrilled with another impressive performance and revealed that he is very satisfied with how his side is performing.

He said: "It was a fantastic performance and all the lads showed a great attitude.

"I can't ask for much more other than to keep going."
